About
Dave Sherwin teaches photography on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich. He joined the faculty in 1987 and worked full time until 1991. He then started his own commercial photography studio, specializing in editorial, corporate, and advertising photography, while still teaching a studio class at Andrews University, from 1991 until 2000, when he returned to teach full-time in the digital media and photography department.
Sherwin grew up overseas in Pakistan as a missionary kid, without the influence of television. "I built a lot of my own toys because commercial toys were unavailable. When I was twelve, I built my own darkroom and learned how to make pictures. Creativity was something I enjoyed and learned." Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Sherwin graduated in 1982 with a bachelor of fine arts in photography from Andrews University.
Before coming to Andrews, Sherwin worked six years for the Review and Herald Publishing Co. in Hagerstown, Maryland, as their head photographer. He is married to Jane Anne Hartman Sherwin. They have two children, Brent and Brittany.
