About
Robert Kingman is a professor of physics at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Mich. He joined the faculty in 1971.
Born in Phoenix, Ariz., Kingman graduated in 1961 from Walla Walla College, College Place, Wash., with a bachelor's in physics after attending Atlantic Union College, South Lancaster, Mass. He attended summer sessions in cosmology, astronomy, quantum mechanics and dynamical astronomy at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; Louisiana State University; Baton Rouge, and Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. In 1966, he received a master's and in 1971 he received a doctor of philosophy in physics, both from the University of Arizona, Tucson. The title of his dissertation is: On the Spatial Distribution of Clusters of Galaxies.
He has made several scientific presentations and has published both his PhD dissertation and his master's thesis.
Before coming to Andrews, Kingman taught at the University of Arizona and Walla Walla College. He was assistant director of the Walla Walla College Summer Conference on Relativity in 1966. He teaches courses in concepts in applied physics and concepts of physics in motion.
He is married to Lillis Swanson Kingman. They have two sons and two daughters.
