Abstract
This presentation will introduce practical manners in which pedagogy can be improved in blended/hybrid courses to offer the best learning experience and thus increase student satisfaction and engagement, as well as reduce withdrawal rates. Some elements that could improve a blended/hybrid learning experience are a strong teaching presence, pedagogically savvy online interaction assignments, and creating an autonomous learner (Murphy & Hurd, 2011). Although examples will be drawn from English as a Second Language, and foreign-language teaching, concepts can be applied to a wide area of courses.
