Abstract

Vesicles, termed transition vesicles, that bleb from part-rough, part-smooth regions of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and are thought to be involved in membrane trafficking between the ER and Golgi apparatus, are increased in numbers in livers of rats gavaged with excess retinol (Morré and Morré, 1987). Here, we report studies to elucidate possible biochemical effects on this special vesicle-forming portion of the ER.
