The Faithful and True Witness

In Revelation 1:5, Jesus is called “the faithful witness.” Two chapters later, He is called “‘the faithful and true witness’” (3:14). Because this phrase is mentioned at the beginning of the book, it becomes important for the first things, setting the stage for things that come later. Therefore, a correct understanding of the meaning of “faithful witness” will guide one’s understanding of the entire Book of Revelation.
