The 'Non' Word

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

The prefix 'non' is useful and often necessary. 'Non' clarifies, identifies, and helps one make appropriate decisions. However, is it appropriate when referring to people, to 'them', to others? Or does our 'Adventist' lingo, limit conversations or create invisible obstacles for sharing Christ's love? What if language of our church culture defines us at the expense of others? Is our historic use of labeling people groups inclusive? Come explore THE 'non' word and how its elimination may be a first step to inclusion.
